"To the British festival goer, used to the scenic, landscapes of Reading and the like, the Positivus AB Festival in Latvia comes as something of a shock. Buried deep in lush, seemingly never ending woods (looking like something out of a Grimm’s fairy tale), the site is located on the shores of the Baltic sea a couple of hours drive from the stunning capital city of Riga. The site is beside the undulating sea (it doesn’t lap the shore so much as wobble towards it like jelly), festival goers sit getting pissed watching the blazing sunset over Sweden, just out of sight on the other coast. The perimeter fence is patrolled by angry looking dogs, like an Eastern European Burns Manor, a far more effective deterrent than a ten-foot high superstructure and probably a damn site cheaper too. When we walk off the path to the beach, a security guard runs over to warn us that if we don’t get back on track, we’re highly likely to get mauled. This is more like it."

Wooo!! What a night. Thankyou Latvia. What a cool evening. We promise we'll be back. I get sad when I think we have left it so long before coming to visit you all. Y'all made it a night to remember.
Was funny tonight. We sung the song Slideshow from The Man Who and I realised that there is a line in the song that goes "There is no design for life..." and I was thinking "shit, the Manics are on after us!" and that maybe they thought I was saying bad shit about that song...actually the opposite is true... because Slideshow is about the power of songs, and how they trigger memories like a slideshow, saying that it's not so much the song but rather where it takes you that is important...anyways I have always wondered if they thought I was being cheeky. I love 'Design For Life"
Enjoyed the girls screaming for Claes tonight. For a moment it felt like a Beatles concert. I think we have many girl fans and I would encourage alot more hysteria at shows :) Ok maybe just for one song. The scream tonight was SO loud and shrill.
Anyways, I am going to sign off now.
Thanks to Nick our soundman who was looking after the sound while Giles (our regular soundman) was off making Crowded House sound fantastic. Thanks Nick. And thanks to all in Russia and Latvia for making these past couple of days so memorable.
